Whale watching in Salvador da Bahia? Yes, it’s real – and it’s unforgettable! From mid-July to the end of October, the warm Atlantic waters just off the coast of Bahia become the stage for a breathtaking natural spectacle: the humpback whales (“baleia jubarte”) arrive to mate and give birth.

Your adventure begins early with a transfer from your hotel in Salvador or from the airport straight to Praia do Forte. Our English-speaking guide will accompany you throughout the day.

First stop:

The Instituto Baleia Jubarte (Whale Institute), where you’ll get fascinating insights into the life and habits of these majestic giants.

Then it’s a short walk through the charming village of Praia do Forte to the beach, where our escuna (a traditional wooden schooner) awaits.

We ship around 5 km off the coast into the whales’ natural habitat – a true sea safari!

With a 98% chance of seeing whales, you’ll witness them in various social formations: mothers with calves, bulls guarding their group, and solo whales swimming peacefully through the Atlantic.

These warm waters are crucial for the whales, as calves wouldn’t survive in the freezing Antarctic.
