From mid-July to the end of October, the warm waters of the Atlantic coast near Salvador and Praia do Forte transform into the stage for a fascinating natural spectacle: the majestic humpback whales (Baleia jubarte) return from the icy Antarctic to mate and give birth to their calves.

Your unforgettable adventure begins early in the morning: We'll pick you up directly from your hotel or the airport in Salvador and drive together to Praia do Forte, one of the best whale watching spots in Brazil. Our experienced guide will accompany you throughout the day in German or English.

First stop: a visit to the renowned Humpback Whale Institute (Instituto Baleia Jubarte). Here you'll learn fascinating details about the life and behavior of whales, their migrations, and conservation measures.
Stroll through the charming village of Praia do Forte – with its small shops, cafés and tropical flair.
Schooner Cruise: A traditional wooden boat takes us about 5 kilometers out to sea—directly into the natural habitat of humpback whales. A maritime safari with a 98% chance of sighting!

And with a little luck: spectacular jumps, fin strokes and impressive tail fins above the waves.

Schedule of the day:
• 08:00: Departure from Hotel Pousada Rancho Fundo or meeting point in Salvador
• 09:00: Check-in at Praia do Forte
• 9:15 a.m.: Safety briefing & introduction to whales
• 10:00 – 10:30: Departure by schooner for whale watching
• 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.: Return to Praia do Forte
• Approx. 4:00 PM: Arrival back in Salvador

Important instructions:
There's no pier, so you'll be wading through water up to your waist when boarding and disembarking. Please bring a swimsuit and a towel!
Duration of the boat trip: approx. 2 to 4 hours, depending on weather and sightings
Drinking water, fresh fruit and biscuits are available on board
